Content objective: Objective E: ENSEMBLE/REHEARSAL TECHNIQUES Develop ensemble/rehearsal techniques. Language Objective: Students will learn a Theatrical Warm up, develop ensemble, and be able to explain the Expectations of this Class. Preparation: Students will remove the desks from the center of the classroom. Teacher will bring up Youtube video. http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=n2VSdskq73g . Students will pick up Warm up handout. Teacher will explain the expectations during warm ups. Bring comfortable clothes and be ready to warmup. Teacher will prepare the Students by explaining each of the yogatic positions. Exercise: Students will follow the full Drama warmup 1. Direct Instruction: What is happening in Drama this year? DIscuss the Play that we will do (no names) ALSO FOCUS on SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL! Who is going. Each person needs to fundraise 120$ to cover the cost. It will be on a friday. There are only 18 spots available! Those who have main parts in the play might not have main parts in the competition. The competition is not mandatory, but you will still prepare a piece for Showcase night. This will be amazing! We will also have skype interivews with theater professionals, we will go tho the UTA conference and participate in Competitions with other schools so keep your grades up to compete Thespian Clan is joining the Thespian society Exercise:Grouping- Teacher will call out a few cues and students will find groups of people similar to them. (Salty or sweet/ Startreck or Starwars/ Hardcandy or soft/ Fruity or chocolate/ Youtube or TV/ Black and white or color/ group by birth state/ Group by middle school/ group by elementary) Direct Instructions: Students will receive the Syllabus. They will be told to find a 3 ring Notebook that they will keep in the Drama Crate. I have extra, but go and find a slim 1-1.5 inch notebook and sheets of paper to put in it. Students can leave binder in class or take it with. this will be their portfolio. It will be checked at the end of Each Semester. Exercise: Stand in a circle. Each student will stand up and say one quality or adjective about themselves. We will then add one to the circle and students will say their adjective plus one more about themselves. After finishing that one, they will add one more to their list and they will have 3 adjectives that they will say about themselves. They will write those three adjectives on their paper so that we can use them later. Direct instructions: Navigating around the room. Due Board, Vocab Board Week Topics, handouts, Due In Box, Text Books and Scripts library. Prop Room, Costume Room Stage... Excercise: Pass a ball/pen/etc. around the circle in random order, but remembering who you received the ball from and who you gave it to. Each time you receive it you should say your 3 adjectives. you should always receive it from and send it to the same person. Try this activity with 2 balls. For Later Direct instruction: Students will learn the basic parts of movement, axial locomotive , etc and different emotions to say it with and they will be with a partner and introduce themselves with their names and their adjectives.
