Beginning Drama
Second Day/ third day Drama Warmup Content objective: Objective E: ENSEMBLE/REHEARSAL TECHNIQUES Develop ensemble/rehearsal techniques. Language Objective: Students will learn a Theatrical Warm up, develop ensemble, and be able to explain the Expectations of this Class. Preparation: Students will remove the desks from the center of the classroom. Teacher will bring up Youtube video. http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=n2VSdskq73g . Students will pick up Warm up handout. Teacher will explain the expectations during warm ups. Have TA do a binder check. Teacher will prepare the Students by explaining and modeling each of the yogatic positions. Exercise: Students will follow the full Drama warmup 1. Direct Instruction: Hand out syllabus. Explain each Item- Also handout any other pertinent papers. Hand out the parent signature page. Exercise: Stand in a circle. Each student will stand up and say three new qualities or the same adjective about themselves as last time. We will then add one to the circle and students will say their adjective plus one more about themselves. After finishing that one, they will add one more to their list and they will have 3 adjectives that they will say about themselves. Exercise: Pass a ball/pen/etc. around the circle in random order, but remembering who you received the ball from and who you gave it to. Each time you receive it you should say your 3 adjectives. You should always receive it from and send it to the same person. Try this activity with 2 items. Clear the classroom stage. Now they need to buddy up. With each one of their emotions they should come up with an (appropriate) action for each one of their adjectives. And then at the end state their name. Repeating. Echoing. Dynamics, Quality, Pitch, Give the students 5 minutes to do a prep for this. Then students 2 at a time will introduce themselves with their routine. This should take less than 1 minute. Conclusion.
